We’re delighted to introduce you to Grabhams Farm, approximately 6.5 hectares of farmland in the Blackdown Hills. The project connects a variety of habitats in the locality through creation and enhancement of the grasslands and medieval hedge-banks.
The site has been secured by a Section 106 agreement with Somerset Council.
BIODIVERSITY UNITS - A maximum of 120.66 units of lowland meadows in good condition and 18.47 units of species-rich hedgerow with trees (associated with a bank) in good condition.
ECOSYSTEM SERVICES - A variety of societal and economic benefits, such as storing carbon to help fight climate change and reducing nutrient run-off to keep rivers clean and healthy.
COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT - The site is open-access to support public health and wellbeing and as a place to learn about nature. Management of the boundaries will also preserve the local heritage craft of hedge-laying.
NOTABLE SPECIES - Specific management to support populations of the rare Hazel Dormouse, Brown Hairstreak Butterfly and Small Pearl-bordered Fritillary Butterfly.
